Driving Insurance Penetration For 27 thousand UI students, Zurich Indonesia and UI Mobile Bring Innovative Solutions for Gen-Z

Jakarta, 30 May 2024 – Today, PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk, PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia and PT Zurich Topas Life (Zurich Indonesia) announced their partnership with PT Universal Indonesia Mobile (UI Mobile), so that Zurich Indonesia can increase insurance literacy and inclusion through a super app specifically for the University of Indonesia (UI) academic community.

This partnership reaches more than 27,000 active students, alumni, lecturers, parents and university staff who are in the UI Mobile digital ecosystem. This collaboration aims to encourage awareness and access to conventional general insurance, sharia general insurance and life insurance among academics. 

Zurich Indonesia Country Manager, Edhi Tjahja Negara, said, "So far, insurance protection is haven’t seen as a priority among young people, even though the habit of self-protection must start from a young age. This collaboration is the first step to introduce insurance that is easier to understand and accessed in an academic environment, so that all parties involved can understand the various benefits of insurance in managing unexpected risks and better financial planning."

Based on the National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion conducted by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), literacy and inclusion in the insurance sector in Indonesia is still below the level of other Financial Services Institutions (LJK). Literacy in the insurance sector is at the level of 31.7% while inclusion is at the level of 16.6%.

In line with Zurich Indonesia, the Director of UI Mobile, Kurniawan Saktiaji, said, "This collaboration is an important step to provide understanding about insurance to young people with an approach that suits their character, considering that they are the generation that understands technology the most. Collaboration with Zurich Indonesia which includes insurance elements in the daily lives of students and other UI Mobile ecosystems is an interesting step. We are optimistic that this collaboration will be well received and utilized by the UI academic community."

UI Mobile offers various important services including checking student grades, information on teaching and learning activities, information on student activities, e-wallet features, payment of tuition fees, and various lifestyle features, including purchasing travel tickets. Through the collaboration between Zurich Indonesia and UI Mobile, various insurance protection information can also be accessed through this application, including personal accident insurance, travel insurance, and various other insurance products which are offered separately.
