Zurich Indonesia, Z Zurich Foundation and Prestasi Junior Indonesia Support Young Indonesian Entrepreneurs to Generate Revenue Hundreds of Millions Rupiah

Jakarta, XX May 2024 – Concluding the second year of the Zurich Entrepreneurship Program, Zurich Indonesia, Z Zurich Foundation, and Prestasi Junior Indonesia held an online 'Regional Student Company Competition' on Saturday (4/5) and (11/5) where students had the opportunity to present a variety of innovations of 40 new businesses that have succeeded in contributing total business income of more than IDR 320 million to the Indonesia society's economic growth.

Edhi Tjahja Negara, Country Manager of Zurich Indonesia, expressed, "The Zurich Entrepreneurship Program drive young people to unleash their potential in entrepreneurship. As we aimed to create a brighter future, through this program we create economic opportunities while preparing the younger generation to enter the business.

The Zurich Enterpreneurship Program has provided regular entrepreneurship education to over 3,400 students from 40 high schools and vocational schools in 11 cities and regions in Indonesia since August 2023. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to initiate businesses, manage personal finances, and plan future careers and create an innovations addressing market needs and environmental issues.

Various innovative products produced include a stain remover made from banana peel waste, a portable clothes dryer, organic ink pens, eco-leather from orange peel waste, and educational coloring materials for children made from recycled paper.

Adriana Poglia, Z Zurich Foundation Head of Enabling Social Equity,  added, " We know that when we expose the younger generation to new experiences, knowledge and skills we can unlock their confidence and help them realize their potential. By involving more students, teachers, and schools in the second year of implementing this program, we aim to create long term change in society and make a positive impact on young people across Indonesia.

By 2025, the Zurich Entrepreneurship Program aims to empower over 9,000 high school and vocational school students in Indonesia with essential skills to create economic opportunities through entrepreneurship. In this program, In this program, Zurich employees are also voluntarily involved as mentors, sharing practical knowledge and real-world business experiences in the program.

Robert Gardiner, Academic Advisor and Operations Counsel of Prestasi Junior Indonesia, stated, "In addition to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, this program instills ethics and sustainable principles in business development. These will be crucial values for the next generation to become responsible business leaders in the future.
